Two-story super transparent VS1-G100 lobby wall

VS1-G was specified by Desmone for the renovation of Bank of New York Mellon’s Ross Street lobby in Pittsburgh. VS1-G100, which utilizes a glass fin in lieu of our traditional aluminum mullion, has been selected for many building envelope rehabilitation projects around the country. The system uses structural silicone and gravity shelves to produce a super transparent aesthetic while achieving excellent thermal performance. An inside all-glass corner is accommodated using only an aluminum corner tube.

Innovation Glass also engineered and supplied portal plates to accommodate the doors, which were provided by others.

Our team is grateful for this first collaboration with Gurtner Construction, a Pittsburgh-area construction and glazing company.

FROM THE ARCHITECT DESMONE

The scope included reconfiguration of the 2-story high main entry façade at Ross Street and additional entry plaza upgrades. The design goals of the project were to upgrade the entry lobby from the outside in, reducing the visual busyness of the existing space while providing a modern, clean, and simplified material palette. The project is pursing LEED Gold Certification.
