38' VS1-A100 lobby wall with all-glass corners and vestibule

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is a rehabilitation facility, designed by Gensler, for adults and children. The 27-story building features a 38’-high VS1 lobby wall with all-glass corners and a VS1 entry vestibule.

This project showcases a key attribute of VS1: how the removal of horizontal framing at the head, sill, and horizontal glass joints increases the transparency of a glass curtain wall. Notably, at the sill the interior floor is separate from the exterior sidewalk by merely a pane of glass. By removing the horizontal framing the glass can be expressed in its purest form.
