42' event space VS1 facade with flush exterior
Amazon’s new Virginia campus features a 42’ VS1 facade that encloses a meeting hall. Dual laminated IGUs are supported by rectangular jumbo VS1 mullions. Toggle fittings are used, creating a flush exterior.
Designers often choose this VS1 system, which incorporates toggle fittings that engage recessed channels within the IGU spacer, to achieve a flush “no exterior metal” façade aesthetic.
VS1 was selected for a very similar events space scope at the Omni Boston Hotel. The mullions were on the exterior, however, using VS1’s vertical-only aesthetic to create strong visual accents on the outside while the toggle fittings produced a flush interior aesthetic.
