VS1-A230 lobby facade, bespoke hardware for interior glass fins

FROM THE ARCHITECT PERKINS EASTMAN/PFEIFFER
To make the library’s below-grade floors more open and inviting, a new sky-lit, glass-enclosed stair well will send natural light into those levels, whose glass entries will also illuminate its surrounding activities.
This project was designed by Pfeiffer prior to joining Perkins Eastman. ❞
Innovation Glass is proud to take part in the renovation of another prestigious academic institution. VS1-A230—our aluminum mullion and structural silicone glaze solution—was selected for the new entrance lobby curtain wall of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at John Hopkins University.
This VS1 facade, which features horizontal mullions, spans 23’ with maximum bay spacing of 8’. VS1-230 removes the typical offset between the VS1 mullion and the face glass, instead glazing the mullion directly to the face glass thereby minimizing metal in the assembly.
Additionally, Innovation Glass provided custom steel channel hardware to support the decorative dichroic (two-colored) glass fins that will be mounted inside an indoor glass-enclosed stairwell.
