Banners at Lincoln Center
Location: New York, New York
This project is in the category of “structural art” as it is comprised of sculpted steel in the literal sense. The end plates that terminated at the intersection of two tapering steel members required a mutli-axial CNC machine of which only a few exist in the US. The banners were fully assembled in a steel shop in upstate NY and transported to NYC via barge. The banners were installed in a single operation in one day. The mechanical mechanism that raises and lowers the banners was integrated into the framing to minimize its visual presence.
